TICKETS AVAILABLE NOW —> click here ! Chaddyslap is a one hour sketch comedy show in which eight people become trapped in Chadstone shopping centre. It will be presented in the Melbourne Fringe Festival Hub from September 12-29, 2019. Our fundraising party is happening on August 9th, with more information here. Our lives today are frighteningly intertwined with gigantic global corporations. Unlike governments or individuals, these bodies aren’t held ethically accountable to anyone. Their duty is to their shareholders, who they please by generating more profit. Chaddyslap takes a playful look at corporate greed, consumerism and advertising. While not shying away from the horror of sweatshops or planned obsolescence, its focus is to shine a light on how ridiculous a predicament we are in. How absurd the stranglehold of companies over our day to day lives is. A major influence of this play is the 1999 book No Logo by Naomi Klein, a seminal piece of journalism which traced the history of branding and the role of corporations into the 21st century. Chaddyslap. Because you’re worth it.
